This BEng Aeronautical Engineering degree prepares you for a career in the UK’s aircraft and aerospace industry, the second largest in the world.

Aeronautical engineers apply their knowledge and skills to every aspect of flight vehicles; from design, development and manufacture, to maintenance and operation.

This degree was developed in close consultation with industry and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) to boost your employability. It forms an educational base for Chartered Engineer status with a period of further learning.

You’ll study the theoretical and technical principles needed for an engineering career in the aviation industry, and gain practical experience on campus in our Aerospace Centre. You can even take to the skies with flying lessons in your final year. Work placements and experience are a key part of this course, along with visits to sites such as GE Aviation Wales, Airbus Filton, and British Airways Maintenance Cardiff (BAMC).

Progress to an integrated Masters course

You may have the opportunity to progress to the MEng course which combines the undergraduate degree (BEng) with a Masters-level qualification.

The additional year gives you higher technical knowledge, and allows you to apply what you’ve already learned to an individual project. You enrol on the undergraduate degree, and have the opportunity to progress to an MEng if you achieve satisfactory grades in your assessments during your first two years of study.
